The Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce of North America Donates NT$1 Million to Support Taipei Youth in Overseas Internship Program
To strengthen youth capacity for international engagement, the Department for Youth of Taipei City Government has launched the "Youth Overseas Internship Program (YOIP)," a pioneering initiative among local governments. The program aims to support young people in short-term internships at international corporations, non-profit organizations, or government agencies, helping them develop soft skills and enhancing Taipei’s global competitiveness. Despite facing numerous challenges in its inaugural phase, the program has gained traction thanks to industry partners' support and expanding international resources. On April 23, Dr. Eugenia Henry, the incoming President of the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce of North America (TCCNA), visited Mayor Wan-an Chiang with her husband, Dr. Earl Webb Henry, along with TCCNA Vice President Mr. Wang, Dr. Ku, and Ms. Ku. During the visit, they donated NT$1 million to the YOIP through the Taipei City Government’s “Compassionate Taipei” philanthropic platform operated by the Department of Social Welfare. This generous donation will empower Taipei youth to broaden their global outlook and strengthen their career development. Dr. Eugenia Henry, President of ADE Consulting, brings expertise in international biotech and statistics and has long been devoted to public service and talent development. She emphasized the transformative impact of international experiences in her academic and entrepreneurial journey. She expressed her desire to give back to Taiwan by supporting youth as they step onto the global stage. ADE Consulting is also a participating internship host, offering valuable industry-based learning opportunities. During her visit, Dr. Eugenia Henry also met with two youth selected for internships at ADE Consulting, offering personal encouragement to seize the opportunity, embrace new challenges, and expand their horizons. This gesture underscored her heartfelt commitment to the next generation. Commissioner Yi-Hsi Chou of the Department for Youth sincerely thanked TCCNA and Dr. Eugenia Henry for their support. She noted that this contribution affirms Taipei’s efforts in youth talent cultivation and provides vital momentum for expanding international internship collaborations. The Department will continue to rally support from across society, working with partners to help Taipei’s youth confidently step onto the global stage.
