Taipei City Department for Youth Joins Hands with Young Volunteers for Southeast Asia Service: Building Friendships Through the Power of Good

Since the establishment, Taipei City Department for Youth has actively promoted youth participation in international affairs, encouraging young people to embrace their responsibilities as global citizens. As part of this effort, the department is launching the Youth Overseas Volunteer Program and will hold information sessions on Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 9. We warmly invite enthusiastic and curious young individuals to apply and join volunteer service projects in Southeast Asian countries, such as Thailand and Vietnam. Selected participants will receive professional training and pre-departure counseling, along with full airfare subsidies provided by the Department for Youth, ensuring they can focus on personal growth and transformation through service without financial worries.

In 2025, volunteers will travel to communities in Thailand and Vietnam to engage in a variety of meaningful activities, including children’s education, cultural exchange, health education, and community development. To fully prepare participants, the department will offer a diverse range of training sessions before departure, covering areas such as project design, cultural understanding, and cross-cultural communication, ensuring they are equipped for the journey ahead.

The program also encourages applications from new immigrants and second-generation immigrant youth, reserving half of the spots specifically for them. This initiative provides an opportunity to explore their parents' homelands through volunteer work, fostering a deeper understanding of their cultural roots and helping them grow into impactful global citizens. Through these community-based projects, the Department for Youth aims to create meaningful volunteer experiences, develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, and cultivate a broader international perspective. Participants will learn to view the world from multiple perspectives and grow into inclusive and compassionate global citizens.

The Department for Youth sincerely invites young individuals interested in volunteer service and international exploration to apply. We encourage all applicants to attend the upcoming information sessions to learn how they can make a difference and contribute their talents to this life-changing program.
