To encourage diverse development among young people and raise awareness of its resources, the Taipei City Government's Department for Youth will host the Taipei Young Life Festival on December 7-8 at the department's building (No. 17, Sec. 1, Ren’ai Rd., Zhongzheng District, Taipei). The event will feature a lively opening act by well-known stand-up comedians and activities on every floor of the building, making it a perfect weekend destination for relaxation and a deeper understanding of youth policies. Mayor Chiang Wan-an will attend the opening ceremony on December 7 and participate in the “Youth Gratitude Tea Gathering,” expressing appreciation to businesses, schools, foreign offices, and NGOs for their support in advancing youth participation, career development, and international engagement. These collaborative efforts have provided internships, career insights, and opportunities for young people to explore public affairs and global exchange.Mayor Chiang stated that many are curious about how the newly established Department for Youth assists young people. Modern youth, characterized by their freedom and adventurous spirit, no longer follow singular career paths but explore various possibilities, including flexible work and innovative models. This spirit has led to the rise of diverse micro-entrepreneurship. The Taipei City Government strives to provide support and resources, creating platforms for youth entrepreneurship and interaction. The Taipei Young Life Festival serves as a showcase of youth creativity, demonstrating how the department not only helps young people engage in public affairs but also encourages them to expand outward and go global. Through these exhibitions and interactions, the festival hopes to inspire young people and foster a collective vision for better urban living.Commissioner Wei Yin of the Department for Youth emphasized that the department’s establishment marks an elevated commitment to supporting young people. The Taipei Young Life Festival highlights this support by bringing together creativity and resources through performances, creative markets, entrepreneurship sharing, themed lectures, and hands-on workshops. Since its inception, the department has accompanied young people in understanding careers, society, the world, and themselves. In areas such as international exchange, public participation, and career development, the department has provided abundant resources and diverse activities.Commissioner Yin also shared the success of two innovative grant programs: internship stipends directly subsidized for youth to encourage early career exploration and shared workspace rental subsidies for youth entrepreneurs. Both programs saw overwhelming application numbers within two months, exceeding their allocated budgets and receiving unexpectedly positive feedback. The department aims to continue promoting practical and impactful initiatives, ensuring that more young people benefit from them. Committed to serving as the first stop for youth services, the department will keep helping Taipei’s youth find their ideal way of life. The Taipei Young Life Festival offers a variety of exciting activities. On the first floor, stand-up comedians Yi Cen, Ju Yang Ni, De Chu, and Huang Xiao Pang will kick off the festival. Activities will include an all-day creative market, parent-child DIY workshops, and booths showcasing diverse entrepreneurial ventures by young people, such as clothing, leather goods, snacks, and handmade crafts.
